Why You Should Regularly Service Your Vessel In The Off-Season

Proper off-season boat care tips from captain ted

Boats are similar to cars.  Car engines run multiple times a week and start up nearly every time! This exact same concept applies to your boat engine.

Moisture gathers inside the engine cowling during long periods of idle time. Running the engine weekly evaporates the moisture and dries out the engine.  In addition, to keeping all the engine parts moving to prevent freezing inside the engine block.

Fuel goes bad over time and moisture can gather in the fuel tank, resulting in water in your fuel lines. Running the engine for 45 minutes to an hour helps prevent water in your fuel from gathering.

Boat engines love to be lubricated.  Circulating the oil throughout the engine is vital to your engine thriving for the next boat season with your family and friends!

Bottom line, running your boat during the off season will dramatically decrease the odds of breakdowns and repairs needed when summer time arrives.  You can spend more time on the water with your family and friends than waiting for the shop to fix your boat.  Don’t wait in the long lines and hope your boat is ready in two weeks!

That’s why I am here, to save you time and money in the long run with preventative maintenance anytime and maximize your fun on the water!
